Introduction

Protecting the privacy of individuals in your videos is important, especially if you are sharing them online. One way to do this is to blur their faces. This can be done manually in a video editing program, but it can be time-consuming if there are many faces in your videos.

A better way to blur faces in videos is to use a computer vision library like OpenCV. OpenCV provides a variety of functions for image and video processing, including face detection and blurring.

In this article, we will show you how to blur faces in a live video stream using Python and OpenCV. We will also use the FaceDetectionModule from cvzone, which is a simple and effective face detection library.

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.x
  • OpenCV
  • cvzone

Installation

pip install opencv-python cvzone

Code

The following Python code blurs faces in a live video stream:

Python

import cv2
from cvzone.FaceDetectionModule import FaceDetector

cap = cv2.VideoCapture(0)
cap.set(3, 640)
cap.set(4, 480)

detector = FaceDetector(minDetectionCon=0.75)

while True:
success, img = cap.read()
img, bboxs = detector.findFaces(img, draw=True)

if bboxs:
for i, bbox in enumerate(bboxs):
x, y, w, h =…
